Mirror

Image
I once read a quote from Neville Goddard that went like this “Leave the mirror and change your face. Leave the world alone and change your conceptions of yourself. I stopped reading and paused for a moment to reflect. The moment turned into an hour, then into a day, and into months and to this day I still ponder as to what this phrase means. If Neville would have been still alive, I would not have hesitated to send him an email. He would have been the best person to solve my puzzle. One day, as I was checking myself in the mirror I realized that it gave me the reflection of who I was at that moment. If I was sad the mirror would reflect a sad face. If I was calm the mirror reflected a calm person.   If I had a mold the mirror would reflect that mold. If I was a plus size the mirror would reflect the plus size. If I was thin then the mirror would reflect my visible bones.   At the same time, the mirror had a way of reflecting that which appeared wrong for instance a pimple, a w

Bigger than Life

Today morning as I was riding to work I saw a minivan (Matatu) in front of our vehicle which was inscribed with the words “Bigger than Life” in big fonts and capitalized.   It got me thinking a lot.     I pondered as to what must have been in the mind of the owner of that vehicle when they chose those words. What did the owner of the vehicle intend to mean when they chose to inscribe those words onto their business vehicle? What message was the owner trying to pass on to the readers?   I then asked myself if I knew what that phrase meant and as much I scratched my head I couldn’t put a finger on it. Thus I decided to look into it literally before I got hold of google engine and search for the phrase's meaning.   Mentally, I brainstormed as to whether that vehicle was indeed bigger than life. I asked myself if that vehicle would survive if at all it was to be involved in an accident. Would it be bigger than life as to shield the passengers on board? Would it guarantee that

Seeking

I attended a Christian school during my high school years, the school belonged to Baptist denomination and we attended chapel service every Wednesday. Chapel service used to run from about eleven o’clock to lunch hours.   I, like other students always longed for chapel service because of the singing. There used to be one favorite hymn song that all students longed to sing along. It was called Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God. The reason as to why this song was so dear to the students was because of the different harmonies displayed as we sung that song. It was interesting to note that automatically the men would lead sing in their deep, hoarse voice as the ladies would echo in their sweet soprano and alto voices. This formed a very sweet melody, it was heavenly.   Seek ye first the kingdom of God And His righteousness; And all these things shall be added unto you. Hallelu, Hallelujah! Ask, and it shall be given unto you; Seek, and you shall fin

Fear is your Worst Enemy

There is a famous quote that states that the best way to overcome fear is to face it. Eleanor Roosevelt once said that you gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. I really like that; however, applying what Eleanor said may not be as easy as it is on paper. Thus I decided to put it into practice. When my daughter was born I realized she had a fear for animals in other words she had zoophobia. I should believe that she inherited that from her mother. Sylvia would adore seeing other children play with their pets or have the courage to touch pets or domestic animals but she wouldn’t dare try. She would cringe at the sight of any crawling living creature if it wasn’t human. During school trips to the Zoo my daughter would get so excited about going to see the animals but would only admire them from a distance. She would literally be shaken by the fear of those animals. She would attempt to get closer having
