Amazing Love
Today morning as I was leaving the house for work, my
daughter, who had stayed back home from school due to illness, chose to see me
off. Suddenly, we noticed that Sam her
pet dog had sneaked out of the house and had ran out of the main gate to the next
door neighbor’s house. We could hear him bark from within the compound which could
only mean one thing; the neighbor’s gate was open.
Every morning, at around six, Sam is let out of the house to
go enjoy the fresh morning air before our gardener lets out the birds. In this short period that Sam is released, his
aim is not to enjoy the fresh air like we had purposed for him but to go to the
next door neighbor’s gate and tease Mairo. Our neighbor has this gigantic,
black and very ugly dog. It is a very scary dog that sits behind the closed
gate. However, even though Mairo sits behind the closed gate whenever you pass
by that gate you will not fail to experience cold shivers running down your
spine. It is this same fierce dog that Sam would go tease despite the fact that
he is a collie border breed, and a puppy. It has been a daily ritual that every
time the doors would be opened for Sam he would run as fast as lightning to the
next door neighbor and tease Mairo who sat calmly behind the tall black gate.
Once in a while Mairo would get so irritated and bark back at Sam and all I could
pick from their dog conversation is that one day I will get you.
As my daughter and I conversed behind the main gate which
was few inches open, we heard a fierce sound coming towards the gate. Sam came
running towards the gate seeking shelter and behind him was Mairo, the
gigantic, black and ugly dog and by reflex action I quickly slammed the gate to
shield my little girl and I. Sam was being attacked by Mairo right outside our
main gate and Sylvia was screaming on top of her lungs, calling out to Sam as
she reached out for the gate trying to go out and shield her dog. I had to hold back my daughter as she
helplessly cried out for her dog. I was
helpless not knowing what to do. Luckily, our gardener who was close by came in
the nick of time to rescue Sam.
Sam had learnt his lesson, I bet, to pick out the right fight. I
also learnt my lesson, which is a person will shield that which matters dearly
to them.
Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing
kindness.
