The Bond Between A Mother And Her Child
The bond between a mother and a child usually begins when a
child is formed in the mother’s womb. The attachment is said to be usually more
physical through the umbilical cord. Psychologists argue that once the umbilical
cord has been cut, the physical attachment ends and paves way for the emotional
and psychological attachment.
Psychologists through research have proven that the quality
of care infant receive affect how they later get along in life. Additionally,
research has also established a correlation between secure mother-infant
attachment and later psychological and social development. A child who is
securely attached to his or her mother will grow up to become more self-reliant
and have better self-esteem.
This goes to show that a child needs a lot of love and a lot
of input and failing to commit to that would be wrong.
The intensity of the attachment between a mother and her
child is brought out clearly in the book of Isaiah 49:15 where God asks “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on
the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!
The bond between the mother and her child is out of this
world however, the bond between God and His children supersedes this.
