It All Works Together For Your Good

Image
Does it really? One may ask. Yes it does! Well, eventually, when all the missing pieces of the puzzle fit in together perfectly.   Recently, the organization I worked with underwent organization restructuring which led to the company downsizing and I was amongst the first lot that went home. When I was first issued with the letter of notice, I was in shock not that I had not seen it coming but the realization that it was real just paralyzed me. I went through a phase of mixed emotions, from denial all the way through to acceptance. Surprisingly, it is worth noting that during that same period that the retrenchment came about was when I had dedicated myself mostly to constant praying which included praying for my career progression as I had felt stagnant. The answer to my prayer was a notice of retrenchment. I remember sharing that with a close friend and all we could do was laugh our lungs out. In the midst of confusion, all I could do was but laugh. There was always a great as

On Kindness

Image
Steven Bartlett once said that if you want to change the world or rather your own world then you ought to start by being kinder to yourself. What does this mean? One may ask. I would say that it is more related to the phrase charity begins at home and in this case it should begin in the heart. What is the condition of our heart? What is the status of our inner being? What do we allow to take precedence in our thoughts? What do we feed our inner man? Someone once said that you cannot give what you do not have. In other words one cannot emit kindness if they have never experienced kindness within. One might question what does it mean to experience kindness within. Well it would mean that we ought to stop being too harsh with ourselves and learn to exercise gentleness towards ourselves. Forgive ourselves alot more. Speak positive about ourselves alot more. Pamper ourselves alot more. Re-evaluate ourselves alot more and the list is endless. When you encounter people who are unkind

On Failure

Image
For the longest part of my life, I used to be obsessed with perfection. This affected how I did my work, how I related to my loved ones that is family, friends and workmates. I would most often than not get worked up or stressed out if things didn't go exactly as per the specified details. Perfectionism had gotten the best of me. Brene' Brown, in her book Daring Greatly argued that perfectionism doesn't exist because nothing can ever be perfect. It is more like what the writer of the book ecclesiastes refers to as chasing after the wind. Indeed attaining of perfection is chasing after the wind as it only leaves one drained and worn out. In my journey I discovered that claiming to be a perfectionist is a cover up for fear of failure. Fear of failure can rob one the opportunity of gaining experience which will result to growth. Fear of failure can tomment a person so bad that it can rob one the privilege of trying something new. I have learned to embrace failure the ha

On Happiness

Image
There are countless of quotes about happiness, from those stating that happiness is a choice to those concluding that one must find it.Ryuho Okawa argues that we cannot determine happiness as a result of something happening to us. Over the years,  l have come to learn that happiness is but a journey and not a destination.  Happiness is a journey towards self actualization, self assessment and self efficacy. It is a processes where one must travel internally and work on their belief and mindset.  To get to a destination, one must travel and during the trip one will experience a whole lot of different adventures of which constitutes the make up of the whole process of the journey. And so it is with happiness, along the way,one will experience the highest of highs and also the lowest of lows. Amazingly, it is all part of the journey. It is all part of the bigger picture which we cannot get nor understand until all the missing pieces are in place and the puzzle is solved.  Alexandr

Amazing Love

Image
Today morning as I was leaving the house for work, my daughter, who had stayed back home from school due to illness, chose to see me off.   Suddenly, we noticed that Sam her pet dog had sneaked out of the house and had ran out of the main gate to the next door neighbor’s house. We could hear him bark from within the compound which could only mean one thing; the neighbor’s gate was open. Every morning, at around six, Sam is let out of the house to go enjoy the fresh morning air before our gardener lets out the birds.   In this short period that Sam is released, his aim is not to enjoy the fresh air like we had purposed for him but to go to the next door neighbor’s gate and tease Mairo. Our neighbor has this gigantic, black and very ugly dog. It is a very scary dog that sits behind the closed gate. However, even though Mairo sits behind the closed gate whenever you pass by that gate you will not fail to experience cold shivers running down your spine. It is this same fierce dog

I Will

Image
I will make it. I will go there. I will achieve this. I will do that. I will survive. I will live. These are some of, amongst the many phrases one can say to oneself with great confidence and   most often than not when one confesses to the fact that they WILL, it so happen that they actually do. Theron Dumont once said that you can be if you will to be, for will can find a way or make one. In other words to will to do something is a choice one makes from within. One would either allow the diviner self to control or let the brute within to take hold. (Theron T Dumont) When one learns to master the art of I WILL , they find out that life can be very simple and pleasant.   It is a journey that requires a lot of concentration in that man has to learn to connect with the mind, body and soul. In the bible, the book of Romans chapter 12 and verse 2 talks about us   not conforming to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be abl

Intimacy

Image
Someone once said that real power is the ability to maintain intimacy. Real STRENGTH is the ability to maintain contact. Whereas games are an ego default when being “real” feels too scary. Human beings by default are social creatures who were created to feel and share affection. God created each one of us with a longing for intimacy. In the book of Genesis we see God visiting Adam and Eve every now and then for a closer relationship and even when this relationship went soar because of sin God still went ahead and  sent his only begotten son. He gave up His one and only son as sacrifice to renew the relationship because He values intimacy with man. According to open bible website, there over 61 verses about intimacy with God and each verse describes an intense affection for God. David who has been referenced as a man after God’s heart pours out his heart in the book of Psalm chapter 63 verse 1-11 without any reservations “ O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul
